Design Tab - Overview

The Report Designer is your key to productivity when creating reports in IndySoft. The Report-Builder engineers have made every effort to ensure the Report Designer interface is consistent with other Windows programs you've used.

The Design Tab is where most of the work involved in creating a report is done. Because there are a lot of different types of reports, Report Designer provides a large number of tools. It can be a little intimidating to work with at first, but it becomes very easy to use with a little practice. However, One thing to remember is that it is very important to test a report using the Preview Tab before making it generally available. Also, make sure you take the time to make your report look good. It may be the only face your company has for your customers. Because of the many features available in Report Designer, its details are broken down into the following sections.

·Basic Interface

·Toolbars

·Menus

When first displayed, the Report Designer defaults to the design workspace because this is where you will spend most of your report-building time. The design workspace is divided into the workbench and the canvas. The workbench comprises toolbars, component palettes, rulers, and other tools that can be used to manipulate the canvas. The canvas is the area that contains the report layout. This is where we place the bands and components that will ultimately control the content of each report page. |
