IndySoft Web-Tier Tools

The IndySoft Web-Tier Tools was created as a supplemental product for the IndySoft Web-Tier Edition. Because everything is done in a web browser with Web-Tier, few hardware-specific functions cannot operate precisely as they would on a native Windows machine. By quickly installing, users can get the full benefits of hardware hooked directly to a local workstation.

Web-Tier Tools Purpose

  1. Smart Printer and E-Mail Routing - With the native IndySoft Client, printer documents can be auto-routed to multiple printers during a print operation. An excellent example of this would be a laser printer for a certificate of calibration and a calibration sticker for a specific Sticker printer. Within every user's User/Location settings, there are five routable printer options. However, when using the product in a web browser, the web browser itself can only print to its default printer. The Web-Tier Tools application allows Windows users to perform this specific function locally on their workstation - bypassing printing that would take place in the Web Browser usually. Also, because automated reporting can occur locally, native e-mail applications can be used, and SMTP is not required in this case.

  2. RS-232 Data Collection from Local Hardware - Because a web browser cannot access serial (RS-232) ports, the Web-Tier Tools allows users to locally connect a piece of equipment and send measurement results directly to the Web-Tier application in the WebBrowser.

  3. Direct Image Scanning - When using an image scanner with Web-Tier, you typically scan in a local application and select the scanned file from the Web Browser "Open File" dialog. Web-Tier Tools allows you to bypass this step and instead scan directly into the Web-Tier Tools application without having to save and select a file.

  4. Viewing current Print Queue - The Web-Tier Tools lets you view any current print jobs in the queue. |
