Exporting Taxonomy Pricing Data

This topic explains how administrators and lab managers can export taxonomy pricing data from the Taxonomy Manager to efficiently update or create related charges in bulk.

Overview

The Export Taxonomy Pricing feature enables you to extract your pricing data into an Excel file (.XLSX), so you can analyze, update, or prepare pricing changes en masse. The exported file is generated in the exact format required for future imports, ensuring seamless workflows.

Note: You can only export pricing data for entities you have permission to update.

Accessing the Taxonomy Export

  1. Log in to the dashboard with your administrator or lab manager credentials.
  2. Launch Taxonomy Manager from the Admin Panel
  3. Navigate to Options > Taxonomy Pricing
  4. Click Export Taxonomy Pricing

The Export screen appears.

Selecting Export Criteria

Before exporting, you must define how you want to filter and organize your pricing data. All fields listed below are required for a successful export:

  • Taxonomy Node Type – Select the type of taxonomy nodes you wish to export.
  • Service Group – Specify the service group related to the pricing data.
  • Service Site(s) – One or more sites for which you want to export pricing. Multi-select is supported.
  • Entity Type – The type of entity for which pricing data belongs (e.g., Lab, Vendor).
  • Entity Name – The specific entity whose pricing you wish to export.
  • Currency Code(s) – One or more currencies for which pricing data should be included. Multi-select is supported.

Tip: Use multi-select options for Service Sites and Currency Codes to minimize the number of separate exports you need to perform.

Export Pricing

After selecting your export criteria:

  1. Click Export.
  2. The system generates an Excel file (.XLSX) containing your requested data.

What Data is Included

The export file:

  • Contains existing pricing data for the selected criteria.
  • Automatically includes placeholder rows for combinations of service levels, service sites, and currency codes even if pricing data does not yet exist for those combinations.

Example: If your export criteria yield 3 service levels, 2 service sites, and 4 currency codes, the export file will contain rows for all possible combinations for each taxonomy node.

File Format

The export file matches exactly the import format and includes these columns:

  • Taxonomy Level 1-10 Descriptions
  • Taxonomy GUID
  • Service Level
  • Service Site
  • Entity Type
  • Entity Name
  • Vendor (Reference Only)
  • Cost
  • Currency Code
  • Internal Cost
  • Discount Exempt

Note: The exported file is sorted in the following order for easy review and future imports:

  • Taxonomy Levels 1–10

  • Service Level

  • Service Site

  • Currency Code

Security and Permissions

  • Users can only export pricing data for entities they have permission to manage.
  • The export utility enforces security rules identical to those applied during pricing updates.

Example Scenario

You want to review and update pricing for a specific lab across multiple sites and currencies:

  • Open the Export Taxonomy Pricing page.

  • Select:

    • Taxonomy Node Type → “Lab Services”
    • Service Group → “Standard Diagnostics”
    • Service Sites → “Site A” and “Site B”
    • Entity Type → “Lab”
    • Entity Name → “Advanced Lab Partners”
    • Currency Codes → “USD” and “EUR”
  • Click Export.

  • Open the XLSX file to review pricing and make necessary changes.

Once edits are complete, save the file and use the Import Taxonomy Pricing function to load your changes back into the system.

Tip: Always retain the column headers and file structure when modifying exported data to ensure a successful re-import.
