Multiple Company Support

Keep in mind when reviewing the following topics that IndySoft supports multiple companies. This means that all assets in the system and most add/edit list items belong to one particular company. Having numerous companies in the same database allows for a common database for a wide variety of assets and details, but at the same time, varying business rules and asset groups can be tracked.

By default, when editing an asset, the drop-down lists will be populated with items from the list that correspond to the company that owns the asset. For example, if you edit an asset from 'ABC COMPANY' and select the 'Type' field from a drop-down, then this drop-down will show you only Types set up for the 'ABC COMPANY.' In the case of add/edit lists, it is possible to set up a 'default company' for specific lists. This allows you to use one company as the 'parent' for important lists but shares these lists automatically with all companies when a user is editing. These default company settings are user-specific; see User/Location Settings - Default Companies for more details.
