Use of CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI

All IndySoft settings used to make a database connection are stored in an INI file named CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI by default in the IndySoft Documents directory. This directory can be quickly located from Database Settings by pressing the 'Goto IndySoft Directories' button on the bottom of Database Settings, in the 'Other (Non-Connection Related)' group:

You can confirm that the 'IndySoft Documents Directory' is in use because the text in the popup menu will read 'Current In Use.' But to save time in distributing these settings to multiple workstations (saving time re-typing, etc.) - this same INI file can be copied to the IndySoft program directory on any workstation. When CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI exists in the program directory, it will be used instead of any CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI in the IndySoft Documents directory.

This CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI can then be distributed to other IndySoft client computers (copied into their same IndySoft program directory) to save users the time of having to re-enter the database connection settings correctly. Note: when Database Settings starts up, if it notes the presence of this INI file in the IndySoft program directory, it will load all its settings from the INI file. You will notice this alert:

The CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI file must be deleted/renamed from the IndySoft Program directory before Database Settings can again be modified/saved from that workstation.

Overriding Licenses to Use Per Workstation

Users can now manually add a value of LICENSEOVERRIDE to the CONNECTIONSETTINGS.INI file. This will force a workstation to utilize specific licensing, regardless of how the User/Location Preferences say to use licensing.
