Tool Management

The default workflow is included in the starter database for Single-User databases, so no choice is necessary. For Multi-User systems, after the database has been created and the first user logs in, there will be a prompt to import a default configuration. Typically one or more default workflows are included with the client install, located in the \Default Configuration sub-directory underneath the IndySoft program directory. The import of a default configuration will include a slate of events and tracking statuses that are appropriate for a product version.

Arrow_r Important: Keep in mind that this initial workflow is just a starting point - the number of events and tracking statuses and all related functionality can be easily customized using the tools within IndySoft. Events - Tool Management
·ADJUST INVENTORY - this event is not visible as a menu option. Instead, this event allows for the display of 'Adjust Inventory' operations as initiated from above the 'Quantities/Bins' grid.

·BILL FOR LOST EQUIPMENT. - this event is automatically launched from IN FROM DEPARTMENT, IN FROM EMPLOYEE, IN FROM LOCATION, IN FROM PART-OPER., IN FROM RETOOL, and IN FROM VENDOR if a condition of LOST is associated with an asset in the 'Choose Equipment' grid.

·CREATE WORK ORDER - creates a work order with Calibration, Repair, or Retrool Scheduled-Work items, based upon the conditions associated with assets in the 'Choose Equipment' grid.

·FOUND EQUIPMENT - can only be run upon assets in 'Lost' status. Tracking Status is changed to 'Checked In,' and the Active state is checked ON.

·GLOBAL EQUIPMENT. CHANGE - allows for one or more assets to be modified. Equipment fields can be modified in addition to information like schedules, test points, documents, etc. An equipment selection filter can be used instead of listing exact assets.

·IN FROM DEPARTMENT - checks in a unique gage/tool or adds inventory back into storage crib/bin for hand tools. A grid on the bottom of the event displays all assets currently checked out to the selected department. Tracking status is changed to 'Checked In' for serialized assets and hand tools quantity is added back to the storage crib/bin. To be selected, serialized assets must be at 'Out to Dept' status.

·IN FROM EMPLOYEE - checks in a unique gage/tool or adds inventory back into storage crib/bin for hand tools. A grid on the bottom of the event displays all assets currently checked out to the selected employee. Tracking status is changed to 'Checked In' for serialized assets, and hand tools quantity is added back to the storage crib/bin. Serialized assets must be at 'Checked Out' status to be selected.

·IN FROM LOCATION - checks in a unique gage/tool or adds inventory back into storage crib/bin for hand tools. A grid on the bottom of the event displays all assets currently checked out to the currently selected location. Tracking status is changed to 'Checked In' for serialized assets, and hand tools quantity is added back to the storage crib/bin. To be selected, serialized assets must be at 'Out to Location' status.

·IN FROM PART-OPER. - checks in a unique gage/tool or adds inventory back into storage crib/bin for hand tools. A grid on the bottom of the event displays all assets currently checked out to the selected part/operation. Tracking status is changed to 'Checked In' for serialized assets and hand tools quantity is added back to the storage crib/bin. To be selected, serialized assets must be at 'Out to Part-Oper' status.

·IN FROM RETOOL - checks in a unique gage/tool or adds inventory back into storage crib/bin for hand tools. A grid on the bottom of the event displays all assets currently checked out to the selected department. Tracking status is changed to 'Checked In' for serialized assets and hand tools quantity is added back to the storage crib/bin. To be selected, serialized assets must be at 'Out to Retool' status.

·IN FROM VENDOR - checks in a unique gage/tool or adds inventory back into storage crib/bin for hand tools. A grid on the bottom of the event displays all assets currently checked out to the selected vendor. Tracking status is changed to 'Checked In' for serialized assets, and hand tools quantity is added back to the storage crib/bin. To be selected, serialized assets must be at 'Out For Repair' status.

·INVENTORY CHECK/ADJUST - use this event to manually adjust the inventory level on a hand tool or consumable.

·CHECK IN - this event provides a quick way to launch the 6 'IN' type events.

·CHECK OUT - this event provides a quick way to launch the 6 'OUT' type events.

·MISC - a catch-all event for logging additional information about an asset.

·MOVE INVENTORY - this event is not visible as a menu option. Instead, this event allows for the display of 'Move Inventory' operations as initiated from above the 'Quantities/Bins' grid.

·OUT TO DEPARTMENT - checks out a unique gage/tool or removes inventory from a storage crib/bin to an external location/sub-location for hand tools and consumables. The tracking status is changed to 'Out to Dept' for serialized assets, and hand tools quantity is reduced for the storage crib/bin. In contrast, the quantity is temporarily associated with the department. Serialized assets must be at 'Checked In' status to be selected.

·OUT TO EMPLOYEE - checks out a unique gage/tool or removes inventory from a storage crib/bin to an external location/sub-location for hand tools and consumables. The tracking status is changed to 'Checked Out' for serialized assets, and hand tools quantity is reduced for the storage crib/bin while the quantity is temporarily associated with the employee. Tracking status is changed to 'Out to Retool' for serialized assets and hand tools quantity is reduced for the storage crib/bin while the quantity is out for retool. Serialized assets must be at 'Checked In' status to be selected.

·OUT TO VENDOR - checks out a unique gage/tool or removes inventory from a storage crib/bin to an external location/sub-location for hand tools and consumables. Tracking status is changed to 'Out for Repair' for serialized assets and hand tools quantity is reduced for the storage crib/bin while the quantity is temporarily associated with the vendor. Serialized assets must be at 'Checked In' status to be selected.

·SERVICE/REPAIR - perform a service/repair on one or more assets. Documents can be associated with the service/repair.

·RETOOL - perform a retool on the selected tool. Only unique tools can be selected. Tracking Status is changed to 'Retool Complete'.

·SCRAP - scraps a selected quantity from a tool. Unique tools are set to 'Scrapped' status and inactivated.
