Test Points - Automatic Field Calculations

Understanding various calculations that can occur automatically in a test point grid when a calibration event is performed is important. Various formulas and rounding procedures occur based on the rules below:

| Field(s) Prompting Change | Field(s) Potentially Changed | Calculation (note: 'scroll' below means moving off a test point after having modified - or moving to another event step)
| # | # | Automatically re-calculated after the insertion of new test points or deletion of existing test points. Always an integer starting at 1, with no gapsAs Found (Alpha) | Failed, As Found | Upon scroll, if 'As Found (Alpha)' contains the text 'FAIL,' then the 'Failed' checkbox is checked. The numeric portion of this text is automatically populated into 'As Found'.As Left (Alpha) | Failed, Adjusted, As Left | Upon scroll, If 'As Left (Alpha)' contains the text 'FAIL,' then the 'Failed' checkbox is checked. If this field contains the text 'ADJUST,' then the 'Adjusted' checkbox is checked. If the 'Failed' checkbox was already checked and this field contains the text 'PASS,' then the 'Adjusted' checkbox is checked. The numeric portion of text is automatically populated into 'As Left.'Standard Formula + change in Custom 1, Custom 2, Extra Number 1, or Extra Number 2 | Standard, Extra Number 4 (Dual Tolerancing only) | When a formula is present in 'Standard Formula', if the 'Custom 1', 'Custom 2', 'Extra Number 1', or 'Extra Number 2' fields are modified, then upon scroll, this formula is executed, and the result is populated into the 'Standard' field. If the default tolerance type is set up with a 'Result Type' of Dual Tolerance, then the secondary 'Standard' result is populated into 'Extra Number 4'. If the 'Turn Off Formulas' menu option is checked, then formula calculations are skipped.Various Tolerance-related Formula fields (see Calculation note) + change in Standard (or Extra Number 4 if dual-tolerancing used) | Tolerance +, Tolerance -, Extra Number 3 (Dual Tolerancing Only), Extra Number 5 (Dual Tolerancing Only) | Upon scroll, if the 'Standard' value is modified (and/or 'Extra Number 4' if dual tolerancing), then the 'Tolerance Type' field for the asset is looked up, and the appropriate formula (note below) is executed. This formula modifies 'Tolerance +' and 'Tolerance -.' If this formula has a 'Result Type' of Dual Tolerance, then 'Extra Number 3' is populated with the secondary 'Tolerance -' result, and 'Extra Number 5' is populated with the secondary 'Tolerance +' result. The formulas used for calculating these limits are, by default, the 'Formula +' and 'Formula -' from System-Wide Options...Tolerance Formulas. These formulas are superseded by any formulas specified in the 'Tolerance + Formula' and 'Tolerance - Formula' fields. If New/Used tolerancing is set up, and the asset is used, then 'Used Tol. - Formula' and 'Used Tol + Formula' formulas supersede the System-Wide Options formulas.Formula + change in As Found, As Left | As Found, As Left | Upon scroll, if a formula is present in the 'Formula' field and the 'As Found' value has been modified, then this formula is executed upon scroll. The result is populated back into the 'As Found' field. Similarly, if the 'As Left' field is modified (and a Formula is present), then this formula is executed, and the result is populated back into the 'As Left' field. If the 'Turn Off Formulas' menu option is checked, then formula calculations are skipped.Res. | Standard, Tolerance +, Tolerance -, Extra Number 1, Extra Number 2, As Found, As Left | Upon scrolling, the resolution in the 'Res.' column is applied to 'Standard,' 'Tolerance +,' 'Tolerance -,' 'Extra Number 1', 'Extra Number 2', 'As Found', and 'As Left.' Note: 'Standard,' 'Tolerance +,' and 'Tolerance -' values are only rounded if the test point grid is in edit mode. If 'Result Res.' is non-zero, then this resolution will be used for 'As Found' and 'As Left' (in favor of 'Res.'). If 'Extra Num. Res.' is non-zero, then this resolution will be used for 'Extra Number 1' and 'Extra Number 2' (in favor of 'Res.'). If 'Extra Num. Res.' is zero, but 'Result Res.' is non-zero, then this resolution will be used for 'Extra Number 1' and 'Extra Number 2' (in favor of 'Res.'). This 'Res.' is also used when formatting the onscreen display of 'Accuracy' and potentially 'Extra Number 3, 'Extra Number 4', and 'Extra Number 5' (if 'Extra Num. Res.' is not populated).Tol. + Warning | SOOT | If the 'Tol + Warning' value is populated and the 'As Found' or 'As Left' values are populated, then the last result ('As Left' taken over 'As Found' if both are entered) is compared to the 'Tol. + Warning'. If the value is exceeded, then 'SOOT' is populated with a '1'.Tol. - Warning | SOOT | If the 'Tol - Warning' value is populated and the 'As Found' or 'As Left' values are populated, then the last result ('As Left' taken over 'As Found' if both are entered) is compared to the 'Tol. - Warning'. If the value is below, then 'SOOT' is populated with a '1'.Extra Num. Res. | Extra Number 1, Extra Number 2 | If the 'Extra Num. Res.' is greater than 0, and the 'Extra Number 1' and/or 'Extra Number 2' values are populated, then they will be rounded according to 'Extra Num. Res.' digits. Note: 'Extra Num. Res.' is applied to 'Extra Number 1' and 'Extra Number 2' in favor of 'Result Res.' and 'Res.'.Result Res. | As Found, As Left | Upon scroll, if 'Result Res.' is non-zero, this resolution is applied to 'As Found', 'As Left,' and potentially 'Extra Number 1' and 'Extra Number 2'. It is only used for 'Extra Number 1' and 'Extra Number 2' if 'Extra Num. Res.' is NOT populated.Applied Value Res. | Applied Value As Found, Applied Value As Left | When 'Applied Value As Found' and 'Applied Value As Left' are displayed within the test points grid, it is formatted according to 'Applied Value Res.'. If 'Applied Value Res.' is 0, then 'Res.' is used when formatting the output onscreen.Uncertainty Res. | Uncertainty | Upon scroll, when 'Uncertainty' is calculated, it is rounded according to the resolution stated within the matching Uncertainty budget (if any). If this value is unavailable, then the 'Uncertainty Res.' is used. | |
