Data Exchange Module - Overview
Note: the Data Exchange Module only applies to the Single User versions of IndySoft.
The Data Exchange Module in IndySoft allows users running the Single User version to sync their Single User database (possibly running on a mobile computer, laptop, etc.) with a central 3-Tier IndySoft database. The Data Exchange Module allows data to be sent from the Single User to the Central Database and from the Central Database to the Single User Database. Various options are available that allow for selecting equipment and filtering information sent with each sync. In addition, a text logging function is included, and icon shortcuts can be created to launch templated send/receive operations in the future quickly.
To launch the Data Exchange Module, run Single User IndySoft (the Data Exchange Module is available from the Single User version of IndySoft ) and select the 'Utilities' menu.
When the Data Exchange Module launches, you will notice three main tabs: "Receive Information," "Equip./Event Bulk Receive", and "Send Updated Information." These represent both directions in which data can flow as a result of the Data Exchange Module ('to' the Central Database [Send Updated Information] or 'to' the Single User Database [Receive Information]). The "Receive Information" and "Equip./Event Bulk Receive" tabs move data from the Multi-User database to the Single-User database. The "Send Updated Information" tab moves data from the Single-User Database to the Multi-User Database.
For more information on the options available for these three sync operations, see the topics below:
